Shop for a new frying pan online and the word "titanium" starts showing up on products that look — and cost — nothing alike. A $30 nonstick skillet with a gray speckled surface gets called titanium. So does a $250 set advertised as "aerospace-grade." So, occasionally, does a ceramic pan with no obvious titanium connection at all beyond the name. None of that is an accident. Titanium coated cookware is a broad marketing category, not a single, well-defined product, and figuring out what you're actually buying means looking past the label on the box.
